Pavimental is in Strade & Autostrade

The specialist magazine of the construction sector Strade & Autostrade has dedicated to Pavimental an article describing the final phase of the construction of the Santa Lucia tunnel on the A1 Highway.

The longest 3-lane tunnel in Europe, and one of the 5 largest in the world by size, will be definitively completed in about 2 months.

The work was carried out by Pavimental using a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) about 16 metres in diameter, which enabled the work to be completed efficiently and the risks to the safety of the personnel working on the tunnel to be minimised.

The excavation of the tunnel, which is a vital work in terms of the domestic panorama, was carried out in full respect of the construction technologies currently available, generating a minimal impact on the hydrogeological system in the area and enabling the waste material to be disposed of in a fully sustainable manner.

Pavimental continues in its mission to support the significant plan of investments of Autostrade per l’Italia to improve the traffic flow on Italian highways, especially the stretch of the A1 between Incisa and Barberino di Mugello.
